Ownership

Borgo Paglianetto was born in 2008 from the merger of two wineries operating for a long time in the area and from the love for Matelica of the five professional owners who, being very attached to their homeland, have decided to dedicate their free time to this activity. focusing on the production of Verdicchio, without forgetting the Marche Rosso. The board members are Luciano Bruzzechesse, Mario Basilissi, Pierandrea Farroni, the brothers Antonio and Giovanni Battista Roversi.

The team

The beating heart of Borgo Paglianetto is made up of a young and passionate team that dedicates itself to the various activities every day and with care.

Mission

Borgo Paglianetto is located in Matelica, in both the heart of the Marche region and the production area of Verdicchio di Matelica Doc. With its nearly 29 hectares, Borgo Paglianetto lies on the hills of Matelica in a closed valley , the so-called Alta Valle dell' Esino, representing the only case in the Marche region for its unusual North-South orientation, fundamental factor contributing to the creation of that microclimate that allows the cultivation of grapes of the highest quality. Thanks to all these conditions it is possible to obtain wines with a solid structure but capable, at the same time, of maintaining freshness, depth and an incredible longevity. Our mission is to focus on both a high quality and sustainable production, in the full respect of the landscape, fully convinced that this attention grants the consumer to find the best expression of terroir and grape variety in every glass. From our point of view, innovation passes through the safeguard of the environment, of workers as well as of the manufacturing processes. For this reason, we are daily committed to preserving the value of the natural resources surrounding us, using raw materials capable of reducing the use of energy and limiting the intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar to the essential. You will discover that our wines are authentic, different one another for age and exposure of the vineyards, grape ripening and the sought drinking style. These are pleasant and long-living wines, able to tell the story of a unique terroir and to enrich your sensory experience with every sip.

Thanks to the photovoltaic system installed on the cellar roof, in Località Pagliano 393, we are able to accumulate electricity which is used in the various winemaking processes.

In order to continue supporting our commitment to the environment improvement, we use for several years lighter bottles for our wines, obtained through lower carbon dioxide emissions and requiring less energy consumption during the production process, finally contributing to minimize the impact of the empty glass on the environment (if compared to alike containers).

Corks used for our wines are completely recyclable and made from renewable plant-based biopolymers, extracted from sugar cane. They offer superior performance and uniform oxygen control, preventing product spoilage and waste due to wine defects.

Borgo Paglianetto favors local suppliers, to promote the economy within the community and reduce the transport footprint.

The FIVI federation brings together the winemakers who grow, bottle and sell their own products, not buying grapes or wine, respecting winemaking standards, focusing on the quality of the grapes and limiting unnecessary additives and cellar practices. The main objective is to propose and promote a sustainable and rational economic organization of wine. This ensures that the vigneron remains in the area to make wine, to preserve the terroir for the joy of the consumer.
